‘I have been volunteering at ‘Sursum Corda’- the Association for Those in Need in Nowy Sacz and when I started studying at WSB-NLU I wanted also here to find a group of people willing to help others,’ said Michał Machowski, a sophomore at Management and Marketing program.

The organizational meeting of the Students Volunteering Center, which took place on march 7, 2006, attracted 15 people. Soon, email messages came from others who are interested in cooperation. At present, the Students Volunteering Center has 23 members who are officially registered on its list-serv.

By the end of June, the Center intends to organize a raffle whose proceeds will be spent on organizing a trip for the children who have been beneficiaries of the activities of ‘Sursum Corda’.

Students also intend to organize 3-4 weekend meetings for neglected children and children from poor families during which there will be some sports activities, watching movies and trips.

In May, the Students Volunteering Center will invite students and high school pupils to a conference devoted to issues related to voluntary work and charitable activities.
