When it started in 1999, WSB-NLU was a local school. With time, it has become famous all over the country attracting students not only from Poland but also from abroad. At present, there are 4,500 students at WSB-NLU.
Among students admitted to the Management and Marketing major in the academic year 2002/2003, 33% come from Małopolska region, approximately 4% from abroad and the remaining 63% came to Nowy Sącz from other regions of Poland. 56% of those admitted to the Unitary Undergraduate-Graduate program in English graduated from American high schools.
Extensive international cooperation of WSB-NLU with foreign schools enables students eager to see the world to receive scholarships to study abroad. In 2005, nearly 60 students were offered scholarships to study abroad under the Socrates/Erasmus program.
WSB-NLU Students are famous for their active involvement in the school’s life and in numerous organizations on campus. They are associated in students organizations, students societies and interest groups. Each semester, a new idea is hatched for a cultural or educational venture. Apart from this, students run and edit their own independent newsletter in Polish– InBlanco, which is printed in 1,000 issues and an English language online newspaper titled Ampersand.
Excellent sports facilities of the School are fully used by students, who care not only about their intellectual development but also about their fitness. Students eagerly practice various kinds of individual and group sports in sports sections.
Moreover, students help children from orphanages in Nowy Sącz and Rytro by organizing games, playing with them, teaching them English or simply by spending time with them. Several times a year, charity events are organized in order to help children from orphanages and other institutions. ‘Wampiriada” –‘Vampires’ Feast’ is a good example of an event, organized together with the Polish Red Cross, whose aim is to collect blood.
However, WSB-NLU student’s life is not all study and work in the organizations. Parties organized on campus or in night clubs in town have become legendary. What is more, each year May is the month of intensive preparation for and then celebration of Juvenalia- the students’ festival.
