The Students Self-Government Council
We are the Students Self-government! All students.
Elections to the Council are organized at WSB-NLU, here work the people who represent students. We make sure that the students’ rights are not violated. Of course, it is not the only task we have because education is not the only part of students’ life. To make us fully happy students need good fun. We make sure that there is plenty of it at our school. We organize several events during each semester. Good ideas are our strength. Only we are able to pour out 32 tons of sand in the disco hall and organize there a hot beach party in the middle of winter or paint the surroundings and participants of a party with paints visible in UV and make sure there is plenty of dark light there. To make the atmosphere nicer, we distribute 1000 tulips from sponsors to women on March 8. We make studying at WSB-NLU not only a good investment for the future but also a pleasure now.

We focus mainly on organizing:
conferences - practically on any topic, starting with very serious issues such as EU enlargement, Nationalism etc., and including less serious ones such as “World Behind Beer’ or “SEX in Europe” . The conferences are the most important form of AEGEE activity. During these conferences students meet with professionals, establish contacts, exchange ideas, opinions and information.
summer universities - summer student exchange visits during which they have a chance to learn foreign languages and visit other countries and meet their residents. Each year, approximately 2 000 to 3 000 students take this opportunity and their number is growing all the time.
students exchange visits - a few day’s long visits at antennae (branches) that cooperate with each other closely, which often leads to even closer cooperation.
“European Schools” - a week-long workshop during which participants gain theoretical knowledge related to working at AEGEE e.g., on methods of public relations or fund-raising.
European projects – AEGEE is a co-organizer of many events on pan-European scale e.g., CHAMP- competition for the best management team, MOOT COURT- competition for the best team of young lawyers focusing on European Law, TEAM and EUROMANAGERS/EURENGINEERS i.e., European job fair.

Toastmasters International
Toastmasters International is an international organization with perennial traditions and experience. The organization has the American roots, as it had been established in Santa Ana, the state of California, U.S.A. in the year 1924. As of present, there are 4 clubs of Toastmasters International in Poland: in Kraków, Nowy Sącz, Szczecin and Warsaw.
The first club of Toastmasters International in Nowy Sącz has been established in November 2003 as a result of the initiative of Carolyn Horner – former lector of English at WSB-NLU. In order to accommodate the club to a growing number of members, the second club has been established in the month of December of the same year.
The main objective of Toastmasters International is to remove all the psychological barriers that disable a majority of people from successful public speaking. The objective is achieved through regular weekly meetings and extensive additional training programs (e.g. speech evaluation techniques, body language, etc.). The members of the club have the opportunity to learn about, practice and improve the interpersonal communication techniques as well as the abilities of self-presentation.
Once a week the members of Toastmasters International in Nowy Sącz meet in order to implement the organizational mission and vision into practice. In case of our club, the meetings are being held on each Wednesday at 7 p.m. and are conducted according to the Agenda prepared exclusively for each meeting. The main points on the Agenda are the following: speech presented by one of the participants, a short session of spontaneous one-minute speeches (Table Topics Session) on topics prepared by one of the members. The tasks and roles for the meeting are assigned one week before a meeting is held. The meetings are held in English only.
One year ago, the members of two clubs of Toastmasters International in Nowy Sącz have organized a three-day conference – The Ninth Annual Toastmasters' Corpus Christi Retreat. The event took place between May 26 and May 29 and, for the first time in the history of Toastmasters International Poland, has been organized by Toastmasters International Nowy Sącz whose members are the students of WSB-NLU.
It is the tradition of Toastmasters International Poland to organize such annual meetings of all the clubs present in our country and other members from the entire world.
