Ranking by Polityka

WSB-NLU came second among non-state schools in the ranking by "Polityka".
 
The ranking assessed an academic position, faculty potential, orientation to students, outside contacts, selectivity and infrastructure.
 
In comparison to last year, the academic position of WSB-NLU has increased as well as indicators showing orientation to students, selectivity and infrastructure.
 
In the category – outside contacts - WSB-NLU was ranked in the first ten of all Polish institutions, both state and non-state.
WSB-NLU infrastructure received a very high grade, which put the school in the group of the first twenty of the best equipped schools in Poland.
Criteria used in the ranking
Academic position described by 6 indicators: 

license to offer programs: undergraduate, masters, PhD and post-PhD ;

  Category granted by  KBN (Scientific Research Committee)

a number of Ph.D. and post-PhD (habilitation) dissertations completed successfully;

a ratio of students of masters programs to all students of full-time programs;

a number of Polish and foreign grants received;

number and type of accreditations 


  Faculty potential was described by 7 indicators:

a ratio of all faculty members to the total number of  students

a ration of faculty holding degrees of professor and Post-PhD (habilitation) to the total number of student

a ratio of full-time faculty to all faculty employed

a ratio of full-time faculty to the total number of students

a ration of faculty holding degrees of professor and Post-PhD (habilitation) to the total number of faculty

a number of Ph.D. and post-PhD (habilitation) degrees granted to faculty

the total number of faculty holding degrees of professor and Post-PhD (habilitation) 


  Student-oriented school included  9 indicators:

range and forms of program individualization

number of textbooks and teaching materials published

a ratio of full-time students to the total number of students

a number of hours scheduled for diploma and masters seminars

range and consistency of classes  evaluation by students

a range and forms of grants and scholarships to students

forms of students extracurricular activities

teaching materials available on line

a range of foreign language instruction


  External contacts were described by  12 factors:

a ratio of faculty going abroad to the total number of faculty

a ratio of students going abroad to the total number of full-time students

a ratio of foreign visiting faculty and students to the total number of faculty

a number of programs offered in foreign languages

functioning of the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) system

institutionalized forms of maintaining contact with alumni and supporting their careers  

a ratio of persons from outside the region where the school is located among those admitted to the first year of studying

a range of post-graduate programs

mandatory internship

own publishing house and its scale 


  Selectivity was described by  6 indicators

a ratio of a number of candidates to the number of students admitted to full-time programs

a ratio of a number of candidates to the number of students admitted to other type of  programs

a number of allowed  re-take exams and conditional promotion to next year  

a ratio of students who did not complete programs to the total number of students  


   Infrastructure consisted of  7 indicators:

a ratio of student places per number of students  

infrastructure owned by schools  

the condition of infrastructure

library and its position  

a number of computers at students’ disposal
