WSB-NLU students winners of LOreal Marketing Award !!!

WSB-NLU Students Become Brand Managers of L’Oreal

WSB-NLU team consisting of Marta Stefańczyk, Tomasz Ciąpałą and Maksymilian Imiałek won the national final of an international competition - L’Oreal Marketing Award 2003.

It is the tenth international L’Oreal Marketing Award Competition; however, it is the first time when the competition is organized in this year. It is probably the most creative enterprise addressed to young people who would like to confront theoretical knowledge they have gained with reality.

In order to participate in the competition, one had to carry out a professional analysis of the hair cosmetics market in Poland, examine latest trends and create a brand new line of hair care cosmetics based on the value of the Garnier brand.

162 teams of three from all over Poland entered the competition. The jury invited eight teams to the semi final and selected three most interesting ones from them. Apart from WSB-NLU students from Nowy Sącz, representatives of Warsaw School of Economics and Warsaw University were selected to participate in the final round. For the next two months all three teams worked on the marketing strategy, communication strategy and distribution for their products. They were assisted in their efforts by a professional advertising agency.

The final round of the competition took place in Warsaw on April 18, 2003. The two-months efforts  of Marta, Tomasz and Max received the highest recognition and this project and its authors are going to represent Poland in the International Final Round held in Paris on May 27, 2003. 

In the international final Polish representatives will compete with students of the world’s most prestigious universities ( e.g., ESADE, HEC, Bocconi, Oxford, NYU). The main award is EURO 15,000 for a winning team to be spent on a trip to three capitals of the world.

L’Oreal Marketing Award is not a typical marketing game. Participation in the competition offers an opportunity to gain initial professional experience in a huge international concern. Students have a chance to present their competence and creativity as well as ability to manage huge projects on an international scale.

L’Oreal Marketing Award Competition provides not only an opportunity for organizers to present the practical side of marketing activities in a company. It is first and foremost a chance for students willing to enhance their interpersonal skills and present themselves from the most creative side.
