For students who like to have a wind blowing in their hair, who love fresh air and various sports, the city of Nowy Sącz as well as its neighbourhood offer a wide range of sports and recreational activities that can be practised outside the campus sport facilities:

Swimming
there are very good conditions to practice swimming in this region.

Indoor facilities:
- indoor swimming pool in Nowy Sącz
- indoor swimming pool in Rytro
- indoor swimming pool in Gorlice

Outdoor facilities:
- Outdoor swimming pool on the Łubinka
- Rożnowskie Lake
- Czchowskie Lake 
- Czorsztyńskie Lake

Windsurfing
this discipline can be practiced on Rożnowskie Lake and Czorsztyńskie Lake.

Sailing
Rożnowskie Lake. The most popular ‘marina’ is Znamirowice.

White water canoeing
There are two sports clubs in Nowy Sącz where one can practice white water canoeing. There are several places where one can practice this discipline: e.g., on the Dunajec river near Nowy Sącz or on a professional channel in Wietrznice where world championships are held every year.

Rafting
there are several agencies offering this type of sport in the area of Małopolska region. One of them is Retendo from Kraków. In the area of Nowy Sącz this extreme sport can be practiced on the Dunajec Gorge from Sromowce to Szczawnica.

Parachute jumping
In Nowy Targ (70 km from Nowy Sącz) one can enroll in a parachute jumping course and practice there.

Gliding
Gliding courses are organized in Nowy Targ as well as in Łososina Dolna, a village nearby Nowy Sącz.

One can enroll to get a pilot’s license in the aviation clubs mentioned above.

Paragliding
Paragliding jumps are organized by specialist agencies. They are offered most often on the slopes of Wierchomla, Snoska and in Kluszkowce.

Rock climbing 
This discipline that is growing in popularity can also be practiced professionally in Nowy Sącz. Especially for this purpose, one of the highest artificial rock faces in Poland has been installed in the municipal sports hall in Nowy Sącz. Apart from this, there are natural rocks near Rożnów where, in the summer, both amateur climbers and professional rescue teams can practice.

Horseback riding
There are several horseback riding schools near Nowy Sącz e.g., in Wielogłowy, Nawojowa and in Regetów where one can find the biggest Polish Hucul horse stable.

Paintball 
Paintball is organized in Dąbrowa, Krynica and in Cieniawa where one can find a building specially prepared for paintball purposes.

Caves
There is a caving club in Nowy Sącz that associates all those keen on exploring caves. It was the members of this club who have recently made a famous discovery of the biggest chamber in the Polish Tatra Mountains.

Downhill 
This extreme bike ride can be organized anywhere near Nowy Sącz. Mountain chains surrounding the town provide an opportunity for free downhill riding with the speed of approx. 70km/h. Downhill competitions are organized in Krynica and Zakopane.

Cross-country skiing 
Numerous tourist-hiking routes in the area of Nowy Sącz enable each fan of cross-country skiing to choose a route of appropriate difficulty. There are also separate routes designated for cross-country skiing.

Skiing & Snowboarding 
The location of Nowy Sącz offers its inhabitants and guests excellent opportunities to practice skiing. Such skiing destinations as Krynica, Wierchomla, Kluszkowce, Krynica – Słotwiny, Szczawnica, Góra Małostowska, Sucha Dolina offer ski slopes both for beginners and advanced skiers. Snowboarding can be practiced in the same places as skiing. However, there is a specially prepared snow park in Szczawnica for fans of this sport.

Hiking 
Tthe area around Nowy Sącz offers superb hiking opportunities. Numerous hiking routes allow hikers to admire the beauty of mountain ranges during long walks.

Ice-skating, Ice hockey
There is an indoor skating rink in Krynica, 36 km from Nowy Sącz. Professionals can join an ice-hockey club there.

Tobogganing
Last year, a newly refurbished tobogganing facility was open in Krynica. It can be used in all seasons.
